You can't see it in the picture but the PEMF energy mat is at work under the dog's normal bedding blanket. The energy travels through it with no problems and the dog gets to be on its familiar spot.  Now, the second dog in the photo is also receiving some PEMF waves from the lead to the mat and has positioned itself  on the lead.  Animals just know what's good for them!
